Falcao Bring AS Monaco Break Bordeaux Records in Ligue 1
AS Monaco’s victory over Metz led the club to a new record in Ligue 1, France’s highest league caste. They recorded 15 straight wins, making it the longest in the country’s competition.
Monaco won 1-0 just over hosts Metz in the third week of Ligue 1, Friday (18/08/2017) or Saturday morning GMT. Radamel Falcao became the hero of the rich club’s victory through his goal in the 78th minute.
These results put Monaco as the only Ligue 1 club that incised the most wins in a row. They beat Bordeaux’s previous record with 14 consecutive wins in 2009.
Monaco’s winning streak begins when defeating Guingamp 2-1 on 25 February 2017. On the way, Monaco beat teams like Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux and Rennes.
They became champions of the French League last season with a record of never losing in 2017. Finally, Monaco swallowed a 1-3 defeat of Lyon on December 18, 2016.
Playing without Kylian Mbappe, Falcao managed to bring a third win at the start of the 2017-2018 season in their bid to defend the French League title. The snip made Falcao now scored seven goals in his last five league matches, including his four goals in the new season.
This victory also makes Monaco while leading the standings Ligue 1 with nine points achievement. They are three points clear of their closest competitor, who will compete on Saturday and Sunday.
