Finding a Trustworthy Site is Like Finding a Good Lawyer

There are thousands of websites available, and in just a couple of minutes a potential client can fly through ten to fifteen different sites all offering the same products and services. So how can you create a website that captures a potential client’s? For consumers, finding a trustworthy site to do business with is just like finding a good lawyer. So take a few lessons from some Miami attorneys, and ask yourself the following questions when you are wondering about the credibility of your own site:

Does Your Site Look Professional?

You wouldn’t hire a lawyer whose office was in a dilapidated building, would you? No, you want to give your business to someone who is obviously doing well enough to afford a nice office space. Well, the same concept applies for websites. If a website doesn’t give the appearance of being professional, then it probably isn’t going to offer very professional service. Even if you are selling the best products available, if your site doesn’t look like it, potential clients will go elsewhere. When creating your own websites, don’t skimp on design. Hire a professional.

Does Your Site Seem Trustworthy?

If your lawyer didn’t have his costly credentials hanging on the wall behind him, would you hire him?

1.       Only order from secure vendors. If you’re like most small businesses, you do a lot of ordering online (office supplies, materials for manufacturing, etc.).  You just can’t beat the prices and expediency.  But you need to make sure that you’re only providing your company’s credit information to vendors that offer security on their websites.  This will help you to avoid fraudulent activity on your accounts.

Functions of Management

A business that is run smoothly is a great business that achieves its goals. Whether it may be new or old, large or small, each successful business uses their own managerial concepts to run their organization. There are basically four management concepts that allow any organization to handle the tactical, planned and set decisions (Pakhare, 2010). The four functions of management include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. These functions of management allow for managers to handle the strategic, tactical and operational decisions for their company.

The first and most important of four functions of management is planning. Planning is the foundation of management and what the other functions of management build upon. Planning requires management to evaluate where the company is currently, and where it would like to be in the future (Rane, 2007). This is when goals and objectives are made, along with a course of action. This is an unending process because of the sudden changes that arise in each company. Depending on the conditions, a company many have to alter its course of action in accomplishing certain goals (Pahare, 2010). This is also known as strategic planning.  During strategic planning it is important for managers to figure out their company’s strengths, weaknesses, and action plan for accomplishing goals.

Currency Exchange for Small Businesses

Currency exchange can be an expensive activity, especially for businesses. Whether you’re looking to exchange a lot or a little; fail to do your research and you could find that your cash flow is seriously put at risk. Because of this, when exchanging money for your small business, it’s important to go the extra mile when it comes to finding the best exchange rates. The difference of just a few percentage points on the rate can make a big difference to the amount of money you get on the other side – especially if you’re exchanging a lump sum.

As a general rule, stay away from high street exchange bureaus. They’re geared up to work with holiday makers, and they don’t offer attractive currency exchange rates for businesses. The same can often apply to banks, so do make sure you compare and contrast rates before handing over your cash.

Instead, think about going virtual. It’s becoming more and more financially attractive to do your currency exchange online. Specialist service providers that are geared up to work with small businesses are emerging with highly favourable exchange rates. These can be especially beneficial if your business often has need to exchange currency.

Making Facebook Work for Your Small Business

Social media is often regarded as the precious silver bullet by local, small businesses, and it may well be so with all the hype surrounding it. But what most entrepreneurs do not stop to think is how they can make use of social media to their fullest advantage. Some people think that the best thing they can get out of Facebook is getting people to like their page and be included in a few members’ statuses every now and then. But there is so much more than that.
First thing is first, entrepreneurs need to stop thinking that they can entrust the entire bulk of their marketing strategy to Facebook. Instead, Facebook should only be used to complement the existing marketing strategies which you have already employed. There are three simple moves that small businesses can try on Facebook.

Groups

Using ‘groups’ on Facebook is the best way to segment your friends on Facebook. Sometimes, a Facebook account, even if it is dedicated to your business, can have different kinds of friends. In order for you to send appropriate content to each person, it is wise to group these friends into different categories including clients, partners, suppliers and prospects.

Small Business Grants and Loans for Women

For many, many years it has been true that white males dominate the business world.  Of late, minorities have been moving up the ranks, tackling executive positions, running multi-national corporations, and even venturing into the uncharted (for them) territories of entrepreneurship.  And along with changing times have come changing attitudes about who can succeed in business and the types of strategies that will hit big.  So if you’re a woman who is looking to start a business and you have both a great idea and a comprehensive plan, but find yourself woefully lacking in funds, then you’ll be happy to hear that there are a lot of resources out there geared at helping you get your enterprise off the ground.  Investors are one avenue of funding you may want to explore at some point, but why borrow when you can get the money for free (or at a reduced rate) simply because you’re a female entrepreneur?  You should start by looking for grants and loans specifically created to help you.

Of course, you need to know where to look.  And a good place to start is at the federal level.  The government has a wide range of both grants and loans available to help businesses that are just starting out, so make your first visit to Grants.gov to seek out grants for which you may be eligible.  Believe it or not, you may find several aimed at women in the business arena and the site makes it easy to apply for as many grants as you want.  Next you’ll want to speak with someone at the Small Business Administration (SBA), preferably in the Office of Women’s Business Ownership.  This organization may be able to help you secure a loan for your business at some of the best rates around.

Should You Run Your Small Business From Home or an Office?

One of the most important steps in creating a business plan and seeing it to fruition is making the decision of whether you should begin or move your small business at home or in an office setting. Depending on what you do and where you expect to be financially, personally, and professionally you may benefit from renting or buying an office versus setting one up in your home or vice versa.

Choosing whether to rent or buy a space versus working from home may be a challenging decision in which you will need to consider the other parties involved. If you have children at home or you can’t devote at least one room in your house as an office space, finding a separate space to have an office is likely to be the best option for you. Additionally, if you have any employees or you are running a business in which you will often need to meet with clients, having a dedicated professional space outside of the home is a good idea.
